Bring Back The South Suburban Railway Standing Up for our Environment "Drink more tap water and less bottled mineral water. The amount of plastic involved is substantial and can take years to biodegrade." |
Campaigns - Bring Back The South Suburban Railway
Edinburgh South Conservatives have campaigned for years, along with other residents and community groups, for the reopening of the Edinburgh South Suburban Railway. It has emerged recently that almost half of the money needed has been secured by a private consortium. The £8.5 million or so that has been pledged is a huge step in getting the line re-introduced for passenger services. The next step is for a full business case to be submitted to the Scottish Executive. Gavin Brown commented: - “The involvement of the private consortium gives increased strength to the case for reopening the South Sub. It would make a difference to many residents in Edinburgh South, with stations potentially being located in Morningside, Blackford or Newington, and Cameron Toll. I will continue to campaign for the Scottish Executive to see sense on this project.” |
