News - BALCARRES PHONE MAST VICTORY
We are pleased to announce that planning permission was refused for a mobile phone mast following a campaign by Gavin Brown, Councillor Mark McInnes, community groups and local residents. The proposal to site a monopole with electrical cabinets adjacent to the Bank of Scotland in Balcarres Street has been turned down by the City of Edinburgh Planning Department. The grounds for refusal are that “the mast and cabinets would create a cluttered impact at this highly prominent and highly visible location to the detriment of the street scene and the skyline” and that “it will be contrary the best interests of road safety as it will obstruct pedestrian movement on the footway.” The applicants do have the right to appeal this decision to The Scottish Executive. Should this be the case, we will keep you informed and we will press for the status quo. |
