News - YOU ARE IN AN ENERGY ACTION AREA!
Gavin Brown and Councillor Mark McInnes helped to launch a project that could make homes warmer and cheaper to run in South Edinburgh. The Energy Action Areas project is being managed by the Warmburgh Unit, as part of The City of Edinburgh Council’s energy efficiency strategy for Edinburgh homes. The project is funded with an £89,000 grant from the Energy Saving Trust. 3,000 households in seven localities across South Edinburgh make up the third, fourth and fifth areas to be targeted in this phased energy saving campaign. By July 2005, the project will have reached 20,000 householders in an ‘area by area’ promotion across Edinburgh. The campaign offers targeted households an energy survey of their home for just £10 (normal cost £100). Those that take up the offer will receive advice on how to reduce fuel bills and information on any energy saving measures they could install. Energy saving measures could cut individual fuel bills by as much as £310 every year and will help make homes warmer & healthier. Gavin Brown, at the launch in August, said, “I am pleased to support the Energy Action Areas Project in South Edinburgh. This project offers householders a unique opportunity to be guided through the process of applying for grants and installing energy saving measures in their homes. Warmer, healthier homes and cheaper fuel bills will be the benefits to those who take part.” |
