News - CONSERVATIVE ECO-BONUS SCHEME
Gavin Brown has welcomed the Conservative party’s new energy efficiency and micro-renewables policy. The Scottish Eco-Bonus Scheme will encourage householders and small businesses to invest in micro-generation designs such as solar panels, roof or wind turbines and ground heating systems, by paying a grant of up to 60% of capital costs for schemes costing in total up to £4,000. The Eco-Bonus Scheme will also be available for energy efficiency measures in the home or a small business, such as wall or loft insulation and is twice as much as the grants currently available under the existing SCHRI (Scottish Community and Household Renewable Initiative). Commenting, Gavin said: - “People in South Edinburgh are concerned about rising energy costs in their homes and the effect carbon emissions are having on climate change. This new Eco-Bonus scheme will make micro-renewables like solar panels, roof turbines and ground heat systems much more affordable for households and local businesses. This will give a much needed boost to the micro-renewable industry and stimulate demand which should reduce costs in the longer-term and make the installations more affordable. I take environmental concerns very seriously and want to work with residents to tackle the threat of climate change.” |
