News - STUNNING VICTORY FOR CONSERVATIVES IN NEW SEAT
All eyes were recently on the European election results to see how the new Edinburgh South seat would end up. Would the new boundary changes give the prize to the Scottish Conservatives, as many had predicted? The result was a clear win for the Conservatives. On the old Edinburgh South boundaries, it was a close race between the Conservatives, Labour and the Liberal Democrats. However, when Conservative held wards of Fairmilehead & South Morningside were added – in line with the boundaries for the next General Election – the Conservatives romped home to victory. Gavin Brown said:- “The General Election for Edinburgh South will be fought on the new boundaries. The Conservative victory at the European election proves that we can win the new Edinburgh South at the next General Election.” |
