News - A Day with Headway
Gavin had a very rewarding visit to Edinburgh Headway at the Astley Ainslie Hospital. He had a tour of the premises, which include a recreation area, an office, a gym and private rooms for consultations. After the tour he gave a short talk to service users and then fielded a range of questions. The subjects ranged from ensuring people actually got the benefits to which they were entitled, to having to name which strikers would be in his all-time Scotland XI football team! Edinburgh Headway Group is a charity, founded in 1982, dedicated to helping and supporting people with acquired brain injury, their families and carers. They run a range of activities which span the spectrum from physical fitness to complementary therapies, Tai Chi, computing and social activities. They offer information, advocacy, peer counselling and support to their brain injured members and their caring relatives. Gavin said: - "The Edinburgh Headway group is most impressive. It is a special charity that does an enormous amount of valuable work. I enjoyed my visit very much." |
