News - SAVE THE REGIMENTS STREET STALLS
Gavin Brown and his team campaigned using street stalls on two occasions during August. The stalls were manned by volunteers at various points all over Edinburgh South, including Fairmilehead, Morningside, Marchmont, Newington, Liberton and Bruntsfield. Constituents were asked to sign a petition against the Labour government’s plan to axe one historic Scottish regiment. The stalls proved extremely popular and people queued up at one stage in order to put their name down. One shop assistant even took a petition away temporarily and got all her colleagues to sign it! In all, over 10,000 people in Edinburgh South have signed our petition since the first street stall. Gavin said: - “This proposal by Mr Blair’s government is downright dangerous. Our troops are standing up for us all over the world. It is now time for us to stand up for them.” |
